State Fair 2006
We made it to the State Fair this year.

I took off early Friday and we arrived in the early afternoon. It was perfect weather. Sterling's eyes were huge! We started in the Kiddie Midway with a funhouse. That was nearly a mistake. I couldn't hardly get through the house of mirror; he bonked his head pretty hard too. I was able to get him before he started crying and we made it through to the funny mirrors. We rode a roller coaster that was probably a little too big for him. For the record, I did ride it with him. He rode the "kid" bumper cars. He wasn't really great driving, but there were helper to make sure the kids didn't get stuck. I thing not having a motorized vehicle handicapped him on that ride.

The Petting Zoo was a big hit. He fed goats, sheep, cows, pigs, emus, zebras, and a few other animals. We wandered around for a while and got something to eat. We then came upon The Ride. I'm surprised that The Ride didn't capture more children. It was a semi-truck ride! I know we spent more than $50 on The Ride. We rode it for a while; then we rode a Viking boat ride. He liked it. In a circle...relaxing. We rode a fire truck ride where we used "firehoses" to put out a burning building. It would take us up and down. We came back to The Ride again. We rode it so many times they let him ride for free! He was so polite; he said "Thank You" every time he got off.

In the end, the night ended with everyone a little too tired, but with some great memories for all.

Birthday Fish
While I was away in Beverly Hills, Sterling's fish tank came in the mail. It's a BiOrb, 30l. Cool acrylic sphere. We decided that we would put Goldfish in the tank because they would be less work and don't need a heater.

We went to Petco and he picked out his Oranda. It's one of those white, squashed-looking fish with the bright red "brains" on the top. It's pretty cool looking! Sterling named him "Catfish". That's my boy!

We can only add one inch of fish every 28 day. At the end of October, Catfish gets a friend.
